Israel establishes diplomatic ties with South Sudan

MENM: Tel Aviv officially announced the establishment of diplomatic ties with the State of South Sudan, according to a joint agreement between the two parties.

The Hebrew radio said on Thursday 28 July that during the coming period, bilateral talks between Israel and the Sudan will take place to agree on a common scheme for the practical implementation of this declaration; including the exchange of ambassadors, establishment of embassies, and diplomatic missions in both Juba and Tel Aviv.

The Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said “the cooperation between the two states will be based on the firm foundations that guide them in forming friendly ties, out of equality and mutual respect.”

Arab political sources have recently warned of Tel Aviv’s relentless pursuit to have political, economic and military influence in South Sudan.
